Newey Sets New Track Record for Pole

Watkins Glen, NY – Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb/Agajanian driver Brandon Newey and F1600 Formula F Championship leader set pole for Saturday afternoon’s race in his Mygale/Honda. Newey’s qualifying time of 1:57:544 beat the existing Watkins Glen International track qualifying record for F1600, also grabbing valuable Championship points. Matias Koykka, also in the fight for the title, qualified fourth after a penalty for running a black flag.
Koykka Fastest in Last Practice Sessions of the Season

Watkins Glen, NY – Championship contender Matias Koykka paced both practice sessions ahead of the doubleheader season finale at Watkins Glen for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. However, his main rival, American Brandon Newey, was second quick in the last session by just a couple thousandths of second in the Mygale/Honda for Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb/Agajanian.

Newey Comes Back to Win in Wet at Summit Point

Summit Point, WV – Brandon Newey recovered from an early race off at Summit Point to put in a comeback drive on a drying race track, racing down the leaders and then inheriting the lead when Jeremy Grenier spun to take his third win of the 2012 F1600 Formula F Championship Series season for Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb/Agajanian in the No. 98 Mygale/Honda. Grenier finished second ahead of Matias Koykka, who won on Saturday. More importantly, the victory delivers the Championship lead back to Newey.
