Chastain Motorsports Sees Victory at VIR

Sam ChastainNoblesville, IN – Chastain Motorsports notched their first victory of the 2014 F1600 Formula F Championship Series season as Brandon Newey edged out a win by .042 seconds during round five at VIRginia International Raceway. That was backed up by a pair of poles, a second place, in addition to two top-ten finishes by Sam Chastain in the No. 27 Mygale/Honda.

Bamford Wins VIR Thriller

Steve Bamford scored his first winAlton, VA – In what came down to five cars going for the lead on the last-lap at VIR, Steve Bamford drafted past Brandon Newey heading to turn 14 and took his first F1600 Championship Series victory in round six of the 2014 season. Bamford was in the lead at various points throughout the race looking strong, but it went down to the wire with Saturday’s winner Newey narrowly missing a weekend sweep. Nikita Lastochkin was third in a Mygale/Honda podium sweep.

1:56.484 Gives Newey VIR Pole

Newey took another pole at VIRAlton, VA – Brandon Newey continued an impressive F1600 Formula F Championship Series weekend with his second pole in two days in the No. 29 Chastain Mygale/Honda. Newey backs up his win yesterday by taking pole by a slim margin over Nikita Lastochkin and Ayla Agren, who nearly won Saturday’s race, finishing second by .042 seconds. Sam Chastain and Steve Bamford completed the top five in VIR qualifying in a all-Mygale top-seven sweep.
