Alton, VA – Brandon Newey took his first F1600 Formula F Championship Series win in only his second race in the Bryan Herta Autosport Mygale/Honda, edging out his teammate Garett Grist, in a side-by-side photo finish at VIR.

Alton, VA – Finland’s Matias Koykka stood on top of the VIR podium after a closing-stages battle among four cars that saw them running nose-to-tail, three wide, and changing positions lap after lap. The F1600 Formula F Championship Series produced again, with Kyokka’s Spectrum/Honda for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing barely edging out Colin Thompson’s TTO Motorsports Swift DB6/Honda and the Mygale/Honda of Brandon Newey for Bryan Herta Autosport.

Alton, VA – Matias Koykka continued his pace, taking pole by just over a tenth of a second in the No. 10 Spectrum/Honda at VIR for the first F1600 race of the weekend. Koykka shattered the existing track record by some four tenths of a second but the Finnish 17 year old went off on his last lap, damaging the car. Garett Grist was second quick for Bryan Herta Autosport, followed by Colin Thompson.

Alton, VA – A new crop of young drivers separated themselves from the rest of the F1600 Formula F Championship Series field during two practice sessions at VIR as newcomer Matias Koykka led the final session of the day ahead of Bryan Herta Autosport Mygale/Honda driver Garett Grist, who was fast in the morning, and set the fastest time of the day.

Alton, VA – Finnish rookie Matias Koykka paced four F1600 Formula F Championship Series test sessions at VIR on Thursday prior to the opening doubleheader weekend of the 2012 season. The Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver was out front in all of the day’s sessions in the No. 10 Spectrum/Honda entry.
